Notes | Real leather Binocular style case with shoulder strap.
Under the main body leather the case is heavy card with a steel border riveted on top edge which the chassis is mounted on. Bottom unzips to replace the battery packs. Radio may be listened to with top zipped closed. Batteries: HT B126 and LT AD35. Perhaps 75 to 100 hours battery life (later AD35 in late 1960s may have been shorter life). Repackaged in 1958 as Roberts R88, probably the last Roberts Valve Portable. Possibly the R77 is the penultimate portable from Roberts before the transistor Roberts RT1. Possibly first Roberts portable to use a PCB (Pye was a couple of years earlier). The speaker grill is very much smaller than the loudspeaker unit... |
